  • Make sure you are not playing Eb!
  • Be sure you start on the low F

Bb Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Start with whichever Bb fingering is more comfortable (thumb or 1 +1) then switch to learning the other fingerig

Eb Major

  • Make sure you are keeping your left hand 1st finger up for middle D and Eb! 

Ab Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Look at your key signature before you start. (That Db will sneak up on you!)

Db Major

Tips and tricks:

  • This key adds Gb, which has the same fingering as F#! 

Gb Major

Tips and tricks:

  • It may be easier to think of what is NOT flat (F) instead of what IS flat. (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Cb)

B Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Don’t forget there is B♮and A#! 

E Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Be sure to keep your left hand first finger up for the middle D, and down for the E.

A Major

Tips and tricks:

  • G# has the same fingering as Ab

D Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Remember the middle D has a different fingering than the high D.

G Major

Tips and tricks:

  • Just F# in this key signature!

C Major

Tips and tricks:

  • No flats or sharps in C major!

Bb Chromatic

Tips and tricks:

  • Work slowly to make sure you don’t miss any notes. 
  • When you are more comfortable playing the chromatic scale, try memorizing it!
